It Starts with State: A Campaign for South Dakota State University

This historic campaign aims to raise $190 million to support SDSU’s strategic vision and goals. The South Dakota State University Foundation has embarked on the largest university fundraising drive instate history, committing to a multi-year goal of raising asmuch as $190 million.
The Foundation’s Council of Trustees voted on April 25, 2008, to accept the findings of a feasibility study that recommended a working goal of $175 million to $190 million for a comprehensive fundraising campaign.
It Starts with STATE: A Campaign for South Dakota State University is in response to campus-wide strategic planning that began in early 2007 under the leadership of President David L. Chicoine. SDSU faculty, administrators, students and community leaders have developed strategic plans to create the vision for future growth on the campus. More than 30 individuals from the SDSU faculty and staff are volunteering in campaign leadership positions. South Dakota State University is poised to rapidly advance in undergraduate, professional and graduate education; in research, science and technology; in scholarship in the arts and humanities; and in service. To achieve that, the University must:

1. Strengthen the faculty through endowed faculty positions;
2. Create opportunities for students through endowed scholarships and fellowships;
3. Create a Funds for Excellence endowment;
4. Establish funds for new and revitalized facilities; and
5. Fund facilities and endowed scholarships for Athletics.
