Become a ‘Friend of McCrory Gardens’
Thanks to the help of individuals and businesses, McCrory Gardens has grown from a local community attraction to a nationally recognized display garden.
In 1985, faced with major fund cuts, a fundraising drive – supported by alumni, the local community, state and local businesses, and horticultural enterprises and associations throughout South Dakota – began to keep the Gardens open and growing. An endowment, managed by the SDSU Foundation, was established in 1986. Since that time, all maintenance and development at McCrory Gardens has been supported by public donations of money, equipment, labor, seed, plants, and other supplies. The “Friends of McCrory Gardens” are a continuing source of enthusiastic support.
‘Friends’ enjoy the following benefits:
- “Friends Day” at the Gardens, which includes special tours, new project dedications, plant sales and other special events.
- Special recognition as supporters of this singular asset of the Upper Midwest.
- Three “Bulletins” each year from Director David Graper, offering seasonal advice on lawn and garden care.
