It Starts with STATE: Giving Opportunities

With a goal to raise $200 million over six years, South Dakota State University is boldly undertaking the largest university fundraising drive in state history. It Starts with STATE: A Campaign for South Dakota State University is a response to a campus-wide strategic plan directed by President David L. Chicoine. Faculty, administrators, students, and community leaders developed strategic plans to create the vision for the university’s future growth. South Dakota State is poised to continue its rapid advancement in undergraduate, professional and graduate education; in research, science and technology; in scholarship; in the arts and humanities; and in service.

In order to achieve the vision for the university’s future growth, a minimum of $200 million in private gifts is needed. The comprehensive campaign will continue through 2012; pledges may be made with payments extending beyond 2012.

Investment opportunities have been established in five distinct areas. Those areas are:

• Strengthening the Faculty: Endowed Faculty Positions;
• Opportunities for Students: Scholarships and Fellowships;
• Stately Surroundings: New and Revitalized Facilities;
• Athletics: Creating Lifelong Champions;
• Funds for Excellence.
