Friends create endowment to honor Jim Woster
For once, Jim Woster was at a loss for words.
The 1962 SDSU graduate is a frequent voice on the radio and emcees more than 100 events throughout the state every year – many for charitable causes and many for South Dakota State University.
But on Sunday, March 7, Woster was rendered speechless when friends made the surprise announcement that they had raised more than $53,000 to create the Jim Woster Agriculture Scholarship Endowment in honor of his 70th birthday. Friends have set a goal to reach at least $100,000 by Woster’s birthday in July. The scholarship endowment will support agriculture major students at SDSU.
Woster learned of the scholarship endowment when friends announced it in the midst of a packed alumni gathering prior to the SDSU men’s game against IPFW in the Summit League Tournament.
Gifts to the Jim Woster Agriculture Scholarship Endowment may be made by mail to the SDSU Foundation or online.
