Donor Celebration 2012
A total of 38 individuals, couples and organizations were honored in person at the SDSU Foundation’s annual Donor Celebration on April 26. They joined 52 other donors as new members of the Foundation’s Lifetime Giving Societies. In all, the 90 new members have given and pledged a combined $33.6 million to the University. Total commitments made by all members of the Lifetime Giving Societies account for more than $325 million.
More than 600 people attended the event, which for the first time was held in Frost Arena – the only campus facility large enough to accommodate the record number of guests. Frost Arena was transformed from a basketball court to a beautiful gala venue.
The theme for the event was “Look What We’re Doing!” and the program featured just a few of the many success stories of It Starts with STATE: A Campaign for South Dakota State University. To date, nearly $184 million in gifts and pledges has been raised. The goal is to raise $200 million by the time the six-year campaign ends Dec. 31, 2012.
Highlights of the evening were a tribute to Jerry Lohr, a 1958 civil engineering graduate, and the presentation of the first Philanthropic Family of the Year award to the Pat and Dale Larson family of Brookings.
