Helping students succeed
Uncertain about deciding a major? Have questions about career planning? Wonder what kind of academic tutoring exist? The dedicated faculty and staff in the University College at South Dakota State University are here to answer those questions — and much more.
The College’s focus is on the individual — from transition to our campus as a new student to professional employment development and finding a job after graduation — and every step in between. The College’s mission is to help students succeed academically, encourage lifelong learning, and prepare for satisfying careers and professional opportunities.
The College does this by providing academic advising and career planning services and coursework. Students may take classes such as “University Experience” and “Mastering Lifetime Learning Skills” to assist in the transition from high school to college. The College also offers a number of exciting degree programs, as well as pre-professional health programs.
Students may also participate in academic success activities, such as tutoring assistance, through the Wintrode Tutoring Program, which offers free tutoring in a number of courses. Students at academic risk can benefit from our Academic Success Program. Plus, throughout the year, career fairs, mentorship programs, internships, and on-campus interviews with businesses are offered.
