Dykhouse Student-Athlete Center
The Dykhouse Student-Athlete is nearing completion. The Grand Opening will be held during the spring 2010 season so stay tuned for further updates. The new center will help South Dakota State University’s Department of Athletics take another step forward in its mission to produce student-athletes as Lifelong Champions!
The new facility will:
- House an academic center for all SDSU student-athletes;
- Serve as the home of Jackrabbit football with coaches’ offices, meeting rooms, weight room and a locker room; and
- Provide a dedicated area to showcase our program to recruits and donors.
To date, the Dykhouse family, T. Denny Sanford and more than 38 other donors have given more than $6 million in support of this project.

Vision
As an Athletic Program, we are committed to recruiting young men and women who will continue the “Tradition of Excellence” on our campus. Future Jackrabbits will uphold and enhance these rigid standards as they earn their degrees and pursue their athletic dreams. We expect to be a premier student-centered collegiate athletic program, measured by academic achievement, competitive success, social responsibility and the positive moments experienced by our student-athletes.
Environment
The needs for increased scholarship support and facility enhancements continue to grow within our department as we fulfill our student-centered vision and mission. We are in the process of upgrading some of our athletic facilities to the appropriate level and expanding the number of scholarships we offer to Jackrabbit student-athletes.
As a result, we need to expand our base of financial support so that we can continue to attract and retain the most talented and motivated young men and women to South Dakota State University.
These new resources will provide our coaches and staff with some of the valuable support necessary to augment our success at the Division I level.
Lifelong Champions Campaign
Our department and the South Dakota State University Foundation are currently seeking gift designated for athletic scholarships and facility enhancements. This level of funding will provide a base of support to enable us to carry out our departmental mission to passionately and relentlessly create an environment, rooted in sportsmanship and ethical conduct, where motivated student-athletes can develop into lifelong champions.
