Li’l Jack hops onto scene
Jack Rabbit’s younger brother, Li’l Jack, has arrived. The kinder, gentler version of South Dakota State University’s mascot was developed by Spearfish natives Craig and Cory Whitlock of the Denver-based design firm Mongoose Graphics. They also designed the University’s current Jackrabbit mascot, which was unveiled on February 19, 2008.
Less fierce and determined in appearance, the cheerful-looking Li’l Jack is now adorning clothing designed for children. Derek Peterson, director of the University Bookstore, says youth apparel with the Li’l Jack logo is now available at the campus bookstore and Jackrabbit Central in downtown Brookings.
